Dear Planning & Zoning Commissioners,

The City of Wimberley is pleased to share the final draft of the Resilient Communities Comprehensive Plan and invite you to participate in the final review process. This plan represents a community-driven vision for Wimberley’s future—integrating land use, environmental resilience, mobility, housing, and infrastructure into a cohesive long-term roadmap.

As key stewards of Wimberley’s development framework, your insights are essential to ensuring the plan is practical, aligned with community values, and ready for adoption. We ask that each commissioner review the final draft over the next week and prepare any comments or questions for our upcoming discussion.

Key Considerations for Your Review

As you read through the document, please keep the following in mind:

Land Use & Community Character
• Does the Future Land Use Plan appropriately reflect Wimberley’s desired development pattern?
• Are preservation areas, growth areas, and transition zones clearly and correctly defined?

Environmental Resilience & One Water Integration
• Are watershed protections, low-impact development, and One Water practices appropriately incorporated?
• Do recommendations support aquifer protection and long-term water quality goals?

Mobility & Connectivity
• Are the recommendations supportive of walkability, safety, and Wimberley’s small-town character?
• Are bicycle and pedestrian needs clearly addressed?

Housing & Community Needs
• Do the strategies reflect current and future community needs, including housing diversity and affordability?

Infrastructure & Public Facilities
• Are infrastructure recommendations feasible, actionable, and aligned with resilience priorities?

Implementation & Policy Alignment
• Are action steps clear, achievable, and connected to zoning or code changes where needed?
• Is the plan organized in a way that will be helpful for policymakers and staff?

Next Steps

Please submit any comments ahead of the meeting if possible, or bring them to our in-person review session on December 11. Your thoughtful review will help ensure the final plan is both visionary and implementable.

Thank you for your time, expertise, and continued service to the City of Wimberley.
